Native to your Mac.
Make yourself at home.
Unzip the download and move Locus into Applications. The agent runtime is included. Getting Started helps you choose your first task; new settings open in dark appearance.
Choose your intelligence.
For local inference, install Ollama and download a model. Or open Settings → Models & Providers in Locus and connect a hosted account.
Give it somewhere to work.
Open a project folder, select your model, and start a Work chat. Begin with Ask every time permissions and inspect what happens beside the conversation.
Ollama and model weights are installed separately. Choose a model that fits your Mac’s memory. ChatGPT-plan access may offer a separate verified component download; your provider’s plan or usage charges apply.
Using 2.6 or earlier? Install 2.7 once by replacing Locus in Applications. Your chats, accounts, and saved settings carry over. After that, updates can download in the background and install when you quit. Choose your preferences in Settings → Updates; existing opt-outs stay in effect.
